Year Three 2024 - 2025
Dear Year 3 pupils, parents and carers,
Welcome to Year 3! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are ready for the start of a new school year.
In year 3, we have lots of exciting English, Maths, science and topic work, including; Black History, changes in Britain and achievements of the earliest civilisations.
Please ensure you have a school/reading bag. This will help you stay organised, carry homework and anything else you may need for a school day.
Homework will be set each week. It would be fantastic if parents could:
- encourage children with their homework and remind them to bring it into school, on time, to be marked
- listen to them read daily and talk about what they have read
- practice their times tables daily
- practice spellings weekly
- help them learn to tell the time
Often, children are taught in different ways to the way their parents were taught at school. Therefore if there is any work you are unsure about, please do not hesitate to ask me. I will be only too happy to help.
It is essential that you wear your PE kit in school on the days you have PE (please see uniform policy). This is to ensure you access the full curriculum safely and are able to take part in other exciting sporting opportunities.
Parents, please read all letters sent home with the children so that you are aware of any events and exciting things going on in school throughout the school year. Don’t forget to mark those dates on your calendar. Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, please ring or call into school to see me. The best times to reach me are at lunchtimes and after school.
Once again, welcome to Year 3. Let’s work together to make this a fantastic year!
Sincerely,
Miss Pugh
