Our Saints
Children are grouped into four House Teams. These are:
Joseph (blue),
Therese (yellow),
Don Bosco (red)
Martin (green) .
Our Children have researched about our 4 Saints and have chosen them as well.
St John Bosco Born 1815
Feast Day 31 January
From an early age Don Bosco decided that he would dedicate his life to helping young people. He developed teaching methods based on Love rather than punishment. He dreamt about teaching young children about God.
St Martin De Porres Born 1579
Feast day 3 November
St Martin is the patron Saint for those seeking harmony. He is known for caring for people regardless of wealth or race.
St Joseph
Feast Day 19 March
St Joseph was selected because God chose him as a trustworthy person to look after Jesus.
St Therese Born 1873
She is known as the Little Flower. She was chosen because she taught people to do little things with great love.
Every child and member of staff is given one of these four houses to support. Each child is placed in a House on entry to school and remains a member of this team throughout their time at the school. House Captains are elected from Year 6 pupils and they provide positive leadership to the children in their House and the various competitions and events organised throughout the year. On Sports Day the Houses compete against each other as teams and a cup is awarded to the winning House. Teaching and non-teaching staff also belong to a House, with the exception of the Head teacher, and they encourage and support the children in positive team building through the House system.
We have a weekly competition for House Points and the trophy is presented to a Y6 person from the winning house. After a full half term the points are collated and the house with the winning amount receive a treat, for a morning or an afternoon.
